Training

The Process

Getting started in an apprenticeship

Joining a union apprenticeship is your pathway to a rewarding career in the skilled trades — with all the benefits of a top-tier education and none of the student debt. Throughout your five-year apprenticeship, you’ll receive comprehensive classroom instruction from industry leaders, specialized courses relevant to your trade and hands-on training alongside the best union craftsmen and women. The best part? You get PAID to learn.

The Process

Each of the 21 local unions supported under the Illinois Pipe Trades Association proudly invests in the futures and success of all apprentices. As your knowledge grows, so does your paycheck, with periodic wage increases as you progress through the program. You’ll be trained in realistic learning environments on today’s most advanced technology and have access to professional development opportunities to help you reach your career goals.

We’re proud to invest in the futures of IPTA-affiliated union apprentices and support the success of tomorrow’s workforce!
