Our Commitment

Our Commitment to our Local Unions

The Illinois Pipe Trades Association (IPTA) proudly represents more than 26,000 skilled professionals across a wide range of trades. These include Pipefitters, Plumbers, Sprinkler Fitters, Pipeliners, Gas Distribution Fitters, Welders, and HVAC/R Service Technicians. Each member is trained to uphold the highest standards of safety, craftsmanship, and professionalism in their field.

Our Commitment

Our association is proud to partner with over 1,500 contractors throughout the state of Illinois. We also collaborate closely with national organizations such as the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC), among others. These partnerships strengthen our collective efforts to advance the industry and support our workforce.

A History of Leadership

Many of our local unions boast a rich history, with several celebrating over 125 years of service and leadership in their communities. Our commitment to education is unmatched—IPTA locals invest more than $40 million annually in apprenticeship training and continuing education for journeyperson members, ensuring our workforce remains at the forefront of industry developments.

Each year, IPTA representatives attend over a thousand career fairs, school visits, and community events. These efforts help raise awareness about rewarding career opportunities in the pipe trades and demonstrate our dedication to workforce development and community engagement.
